Generators

This is a bicycle dynamo. Its job is to turn kinetic energy into electrical energy.	This is the generator in a power station. It works exactly the same way but its a lot bigger and makes a lot more electricity.

All of the electricity that goes on the national grid in this country is produced by generators.

In most of them water is heated to produce very hot steam. This steam goes through a steam turbine which spins rapidly. The turbine is connected to a generator so that is made to spin.

The difference between power stations is how the heat is produced.
