Exercise

We should all do exercise regularly. Why?

Exercise raises your metabolic rate. This means that chemical reactions happen faster inside your body. This means that your body burns up food quicker so you are much less likely to become overweight. Doctors now recommend that we should all do at least half an hour of exercise three times a week.

There are lots of other reasons too.

People who exercise regularly are happier and healthier than people who don't.

Its a great way of making and keeping in touch with friends.

It's good fun.


In the developed world there are lots of people who eat a lot more than they need and do not do enough exercise. This can lead to obesity.

There are lots of diseases linked to excess weight. They include:

arthritis (worn joints)

diabetes (high blood sugar)

high blood pressure

heart disease
