So what is everything made out of? What are the smallest building bricks?

The Greeks believed there were four elements. Earth, Air, Fire and Water. 

      From the middle ages we knew there were actually quite a few more. Now we know there are about 100.

         Atoms have gone from solid balls to plum puddings to electrons orbiting nuclei to .... well who knows?
